JASCO
CELEBRATES 50 YEARS IN THE ANALYTICAL INSTRUMENT MARKETPLACE
This
year JASCO celebrates its 50th anniversary in the analytical instrumentation
market. The company was founded in 1958 by a group of researchers at the
Institute of Optics, at what is now Tsukuba University, who required an
infrared spectrophotometer for their research. Since a commercially available
instrument did not exist in Japan, they undertook the challenge of developing
their own. Their combined efforts produced a reliable instrument with
excellent optical performance. Other research groups began asking these
researchers to replicate the instrument for use within their laboratories.
With increased demand for more instruments, JASCO Corporation was founded.
Today,
JASCO is located in over 57 countries, manufacturing both spectroscopy and
chromatography instruments and continues to meet the needs of its customers
with quality products and a pro-active service and support team. The
company’s line-up of products includes: UV-Vis/NIR, Dispersive Raman,
FT-Raman, FT-IR, Polarimetry, Fluorescence, Circular Dichroism (CD),
Dissolution, NSOM, HPLC, SFC/SFE, and Extreme Speed X-LC®.
INTRODUCING
JASCO’S NEW V-600 SERIES UV/VIS/NIR SPECTROPHOTOMETERS
JASCO is proud to
announce the release of our new V-600 Series of UV/Vis/NIR spectrophotometers.
These units feature a rugged and compact design, excellent optical
performance, high speed scanning, and enhanced versatility.
The new V-600 series consists of five distinct models, including
JASCO’s V-630BIO model designed specifically for life science applications.
New features
include the "IQ Accessory" function for automatic accessory
recognition and the "IQ Start" function for immediate start when
conducting routine measurements. In
addition, two graphical user interfaces are available including a newly
redesigned intelligent remote module (iRM) with a color LCD touch screen. The
iRM incorporates a wide display and provides access to all functions necessary
for routine applications. JASCO’s
own Spectra Manager II software, the latest version of the JASCO innovative
cross-platform spectroscopy software, allows full system control and advanced
data processing. Spectra Manager II also comes in a 21 CFR part 11 compliant
version. Either option is designed to provide easy operation and the
ability to perform a wide range of applications from routine to sophisticated
procedures.
The
V-630 is the most economical general-purpose instrument of the V-600 Series. Its excellent spectroscopic performance is suitable for
advanced biochemical and clinical lab applications, as well as routine
applications such as spectrum scanning, kinetics, quantitative analysis, and
colorimetric tests conducted for QC and environmental analysis.
The
V-650 employs a highly sensitive photomultiplier tube (PMT) detector, which
enables accurate measurements of low concentration samples.
The new Dark Correction feature combined with high stray light
rejection provides absorbance linearity greater than four absorbance units.
It can also be used with solid sample handling accessories such as an
integrating sphere to collect diffuse light transmitted or reflected by a
sample. The advanced optical
design allows the bandwidth to be set as low as 0.1 nm for high resolution
work including gas and vapor phase spectroscopy.
The
V-660 is a dual monochromator model. The use of a second monochromator
provides higher resolution with extremely low stray light to assure more
precise measurements over a wide photometric range, especially at shorter
wavelengths.
The
V-670 is a UV/Vis/NIR model and employs dual detectors, a PMT for UV/Vis and a
PbS unit for the NIR region. The
V-670 is the ideal solution for affordable and accurate NIR analysis.
The spectral wavelength range as standard is 190-2700 nm and can be
expanded to 3200 nm (optional).
The
V-630BIO is a special configuration dedicated to life science applications. It
consists of the V-630, an intelligent Remote Module (iRM) specifically
designed for biological and clinical analysis, and a micro cell holder. Built-in bio application programs include protein/nucleic acid
measurement, temperature ramping/DNA melting analysis, kinetics measurement
and analysis, and a protein quantitative analysis program with six different
calibration methods. The 4 µL
8-position Turret Micro Cell Holder, 6/8-position Automatic Peltier Cell
Changer for micro cells, and other sampling accessories are available.

JASCO J-815 CHIRO-OPTICAL SPECTROMETER
– THE BEST CD SPECTROPOLARIMETER ON THE MARKET JUST GOT BETTER
JASCO is proud
to introduce the new J-815 Chiro-optical spectrometer, the latest in the “J”
series of Spectropolarimeters for measuring circular dichroism.
The uniquely designed Photo Elastic Modulator (PEM) provides greater stability
and higher sensitivity than previous models. Some of the new J-815 features
include a new, compact bench top design, a wavelength range of 163 nm to 900
nm. Spectra Manager II software control is now standard for instrument control
and data analysis, with an optional 21 CFR11 compliant package.
The J-815 offers greater flexibility with a wide range of accessories
available to enable other complimentary techniques, including absorbance and
fluorescence, to be performed simultaneously on the sample. The ability to
extract as much data as possible from small, valuable biological samples
improves efficiency and productivity.
The new J-815 is the most advanced circular dichroism instrument on the market
today and confirms JASCO as the world leader in the field of chiro-optical
spectroscopy.
